Woolworths has recalled its Savory Rice Mix product after one of its suppliers was identified as a likely source of Listeria.The factory has been implicated as the potential source of a listeria outbreak in Europe.
Listeriosis, caused by Listeria, is a flu-like disease which weakens the immune systems and causes fever muscles aches and diarrhoea, over 200 people and 80 babies have died in South Africa since the Listeriosis outbreak last year when it was detected in Tigerbrands products.
Listeria is easily killed through cooking which would’ve been required for the frozen rice.
The Savoury rice mix contains frozen sweetcorn sourced from the Greenyard Factory in Hungary.
